"You were once darkness but now you are light in the Lord. Behave as children of light, for light produces every kind of kindness and righteousness, and truth. Awake, o sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light." (Eph 5:8~9, 14)
Couples for Christ (CFC) Japan held its first conference of the year on February 9, 2019 at the Tobe Catholic Church in Yokohama, Japan. the conference which focused on the above-quoted verse of the Episle of St. Paul to the Ephesians was attended by 92 leaders and members of CFC and its Family Ministries from all over Japan. It was preceeded by a Eucharistic celebration where the Presider, Fr. Raju Antony, encouraged the attendees to do an effort to live as children of light, avoid sin and, if we fail, confess to expose sin to God. Fr. Adam Kurzak, the very accomodating parish priest, gave a welcome message right before the mass.
The conference was graced by no less than Bro. Melo Villaroman, member of the International Council (IC), at the same time the Chairman of Couples for Christ. Bro. Melo exhorted the leaders to make every workplace a place of mission and to wake-up as children of the easter morning so that just like a rekindled coal, CFC may set the world on fire!
And order that CFC may set the world on fire, Bro. Leo Labrador, the Country Coordinator of CFC Japan, presented the expansion plans for 2019 in the Asia/Oceania area. He said that the area will be a God-enlightened space and there will be an explosion of blessings. He also said that all of these will be made possible by constant prayers and follow-through meetings. He went on further to say that we can do this in Japan because "wareware wa hikari no kodomotachi desu" (we are children of light).
The event ended joyfully with a praisefest led by our Country Head, Bro. Boyet Vasquez, as the leaders went home fully enlightened and equipped to do their share of God's mission of evangelization. (Fely B. Judar, CFC Mikawa, Aichi)
